How do things work?

What Is Therapy?

Therapy is a collaborative process that offers space to pause, reflect, and explore thoughts, feelings, and experiences that may feel overwhelming, confusing, or difficult to hold alone. It provides a consistent, supportive relationship in which understanding can develop over time.

At Rafu Therapy, work is guided by a person-centred approach, meaning that the client’s perspective, pace, and priorities shape the sessions. There is no expectation to have the “right” words or clear goals from the outset. Therapy unfolds gradually, creating the conditions for insight, emotional regulation, and change to emerge naturally.

How Therapy Works at Rafu Therapy?

Sessions are shaped by empathy, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard. This allows for:

  • A space free from judgement or pressure
  • Support in making sense of emotions and experiences
  • Greater self-understanding and clarity
  • A sense of grounding and emotional containment

Many people find that, over time, therapy helps them see themselves and their situations differently, offering new perspectives and a deeper sense of understanding.

Who Therapy Is For?

Therapy at Rafu is open to everyone, regardless of background, identity, or circumstance. People seek therapy for many different reasons — including anxiety, stress, emotional overwhelm, difficulties in relationships or communication, periods of change, or a sense that something feels wrong without being easy to name.

Using the metaphor of rafu, these experiences can be understood as different kinds of strain on the same fabric. Some concerns feel like clear tears that demand attention; others are more subtle, gradually weakening the threads over time. Therapy offers a space to slow down and look closely at what is happening, without the need to label, justify, or compare experiences.

Sessions are available online and in person in Cambridge, offering support to individuals from a wide range of contexts and locations. The work is grounded in care, respect, and the belief that every person’s experience is valid and worthy of attention.

About the Therapist?

Rafu Therapy is led by Arushi, a person-centred therapist trained at the University of Nottingham. Her work is grounded in a relational, compassionate framework that places understanding, emotional safety, and respect at the centre of the therapeutic process.

Alongside her private practice, Arushi also works across schools and colleges in Cambridge as part of a charitable organisation, supporting young people within educational settings. This experience informs her thoughtful, developmentally sensitive approach and her understanding of the wider systems that shape emotional wellbeing.
